Definitions for: 10BaseT to ADSL
10 Base T
A 10 mg per second Ethernet base band that uses two sets of twisted pair cables (they can be category 3,4, or 5). One of the pairs is used to transmit the data while the other is for receiving the data. 10 Base T can transfer up to 100 meters per segment.
100 Base T
A 100 mg per second Fast Ethernet base band that uses UTP wiring. It is very similar to the 10 Base T as it sends pulses over the network when there isn’t any traffic. These pulses though contain more information than the 10 Base T.
A Record
You can use A Record to designate the web address to send traffic to your website IP address. It also allows you the option of sending traffic to a different IP address. It is part of a zone file.
Access [Microsoft®]
MS Access® by Microsoft offers software with an integrated database for maintenance while on the internet. A NT® hosting platform supports the host.
ADSL
Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line, known as ADSL, offers a fast way to move data using your phone lines. The speed can be up to 1.544 mg per second for receiving and 1.23 mg per second for sending. The circuit is designed to make it faster than a regular phone connection because the wiring are the also copper. However, an ADSL circuit has to be configured so that it will be able to connect to the two specific locations. It works just like a leased line. Many people use ADSL rather than ISDN because it offers faster speeds.
